The mission of i.d.9:16 is to form young adults into intentional disciples of Jesus Christ. i.d.9:16 accomplishes this mission by inviting young adults into a new way of life—the life of an intentional disciple. i.d.9:16 is more than just an event based ministry and being a part of i.d.9:16 is more than just attending a Disciples’ Night once per month. We not only want to introduce people to Christ who is the door but also to the path that leads to salvation. Part of the New Evangelization is the a renewed understanding and acceptance of what Pope Benedict called, “the art of living.”

Msgr. Charles Pope said,

“Too often we maximize the minimum and minimize the maximum. We spend all sorts of energy and resources arranging spaghetti dinners and Superbowl fellowships, and too little time feeding our souls and taking heed of the true spiritual contest between life and death.”

If we are indeed in a battle, then we must give young adults the practical tools they need to be victorious—the tools they need to grow in holiness. What better place to look for these tools than directly in the scriptures? In Acts 2 we read a description of Christian life.

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. And fear came upon every soul; and many wonders and signs were done through apostles. All who believed were together and had all things in common; and they sold their possessions and good and distributed them to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they partook of food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.” (Acts 2:42-47)
